South African Arts Past and Present Project (SAAPPP)
The South African Arts past and present Project is a project of the Arts and Ubuntu trust which is making a series of short films on visual art, literature and music. The films feature artists, writers, musicians as well as art forms and aesthetics. They will fill gaps in arts heritage knowledge and expose South African aesthetics to a national audience via a network of community art centres and television screenings. The films and their accompanying written materials will be available for educational use.
- Before and after production the trust will run training workshops at selected community art centres nationally. The first round will provide capacity building in creative conceptualisation and the last will launch the films to audiences of artists, students, arts and culture teachers.
- In the course of production there will be a number of on the job training opportunities in research and film-making for the arts.
